A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Ailise McMahon who just completed her own personal 120 day challenge!!! I am awed by her dedication and quiet determination. She is now taking a well deserved holiday visiting her brother and new neice. Her accomplishment is truly inspiring.

Katja is visiting us from Germany again and will be teaching right into the first week of August. So come on down and maybe you will catch a class with her. It might be in German or a mix of German and English. Both prove to be entertaining.

Earlier this week, you asked if I was monitoring my weight loss. I did weigh and measure myself before I started the challenge but did not weigh myself throughout the challenge. I wanted to wait till the end...but I couldn't wait any more! I was anxious to find out what I have lost since I could tell that my body has changed and people have been noticing. So I weighed/measurd myself last night and wanted to share my results with you. I lost a total of 9 inches, 6 pounds, and lost almost 4% body fat!!! I am happy with the overall results, but I am really impressed with my body fat. I am now in the healthy range of body fat...my doctor will be happy when she sees me next month!! I have never seen results this fast with any other type of exercise. Thank you for offering the challenge and teaching Bikram yoga to a newbie like me!! I will definately be practicing yoga for many years to come!!

Hello,

I am not done being grateful for the opportunity I have to do Bikram yoga. I love your studio too. It IS the hottest studio I have seen! The shoulder story is milder these days. After I do the cobra and lotus series, it always feels better. My husband who hasn't exercised in years is wanting to do Bikram too!Thank you for the passes, and the delicious 'alive' smoothie.

I just wanted to write you a quick email to thank you for being such an amazing Bikram instructor and inspiration to me. I have NEVER felt so amazing in my life, this challenge has changed and transformed me in so many ways I never thought possible. I believe in myself more than ever before and it has really pushed me through lingering anxiety I have struggled with for most of my life. I want everyone to experience this! I can truly see myself doing Bikram for the rest of my life. It's amazing how it changes your whole perpective, for me especially nutrition wise, I don't crave junk food anymore, I don't even want to touch it. This new energy and vitality blows me away. I really admire you for teaching so many classes a week and still EVERY CLASS you are full of so much energy and spirit. Thanks again!

Hey my joints feel juicy!

About 14 months ago I embarked on a fitness program combining strength training, cardiovascular work and diet. I started off at a little over 200 lbs and at 5'10" was well aboe my ideal weight. While I started to notice results fairly quickly, I was plagued with several chronic pain conditions which only seemed to be getting worse. I was worried I would have to give up the program I started and lose what gains I had been able to make.

And then Bikram yoga came to Winnipeg, thanks to you, and everything changed. I had read about it and was curious if I could experience some of the life-altering benefits others had. Over the course of my practise, 4 times per week for 8 months, my body has healed itself. Chronic lower back pain...gone! Tendonitis in my right forearm...vanished! This latter condition was getting so bad I was worried I was going to have to change careers, and I really like my job! The work I do aggravated the tendonitis to and almost unbearable degree..I was in pain 24 hours a day. I had tried just about everything-physiotherapy, analgesic cream, acupuncture, massage therapy-but onky since starting Bikram has the tendonitis slowly but surely gone away.

In addition to the obvious healing powers of Bikram yoga, I have completely dropped any other forms of cardiovascular exercise. Bikram Yoga gives me all the cardio I need as well as improving my strength, balance and flexibility. I have continued to lose weight and have pretty much reached my goal, a lean 167 lbs and 8% body fat. I find Bikram Yoga is the perfect complement to a weight training program as it keeps my muscles well stretched and loose. I could go on about the many other benefits I have experienced since starting Bikram Yoga, but suffice to say I feel energized and stress-free after every class.

The last thing I have to mention is how enjoyable you have made this experience for me. I marvel at your ability to give everyone in the class individual attention. I know if my form is not quite right you'll be there to correct me and encourage me to keep on improvong. Even though each person's practise is individual, I know I have good company on the journey.

This is Marla. I'm just writing to let you know I was in a car accident on July 2nd. I was driving east on the highway when a westbound car lost control and hit us in a manner of seconds. It was a big impact with both of us traveling 100km an hour. My friend (the passenger in my car) and I came out all right, with no major injuries, Even though most of the impact was on my side of the vehicle, I fared better than my passenger. Other than the three places I was hit directly by part of the car, my body has never felt better. I feel that regular (or it could be argued that it's been semi-regular) yoga practice gave my body the ability to relax and bend into the high speed crash. The flexibility and strength gained from practicing yoga saved me many aches and pains as well as the possibility of serious injury. Of course I am also grateful for my seatbelt and airbags!

Just wanted to let you know why I'm not in class lately and to thank you for providing a great yoga studio where I have been able to condition my body and mind in exciting and powerful ways.
